hi 2007.

tonight i am really determined to type a long post just before i go to bed. tmr i am flying off to bkk and i wont be back till the 9th jan night.

so i shall be really sweet and nice and type a long one so tt my frens who are concerned abt me have sth to read and digest it all over again and again for the 5 days where i wont be ard. :)

as the year 2007 has announced its arrival without a single hint, i must say i have welcomed it in a pretty simple yet heartwarming way. i had steamboat with people i hold close to my heart. steamboat has always been my favourite way of eating because i get to throw all my favourite food in, plus i am an avid soup and bbq-ed food lover. the other reason why i love steamboat so much is because it allows people to sit around the table, to get together and chat abt any single thing that comes to their mind. steamboat bonds people together. the closeness tt each and single person derive from sharing food and sitting together to eating burnt food that someone has cooked, it is simply marvellous. the scene is exactly like the reunion dinner on new year eve.

i may not be able to express the kinda joy tt one can get frm eating steamboat effectively, but u do get my idea.

so as i ponder what my year 2007 will be like, i think back at year 2006. i went to my old blog and read my resolutions that i had set for myself and i smiled at myself. many say resolutions are not meant to be followed and i have to admit, that yes, most of my resolutions have not been completed. but that is a good thing because it serves to remind me that there are things tt i need/want to do but i havent got the chance to complete them. and therefore i still have something to look forward to each and single day. :) tt is the whole point of resolutions isnt it?

PS: those tt i have striked out are those tt i have COMPLETED them. the rest are either halfway thru or have not even begun.

there u go, as many can see, there are alot not crossed out as compared to those that have been crossed out. i may not have completed alot of my resolutions but then i have completed alot of things tt i didnt set as my resolutions.

looking back, 2006 has been a year with lotsa ups and downs which i truly appreciate it because life shld be like tt. there shld be the down-s so that one will learn how to cherish and appreciate the up-s.

friends.

i have remained as a loner most of the time in nus because i cant connect with most of the students there. different goals in life i guess, prob tt is why i dont speak on the same level as them. but god has been really lucky to me because i have made lotsa frens out there, esp in dfs where i made frens who can really click with me. we have progressed from colleagues to frens who have meals together, shop together and who make plans to wan to travel together.

with time (and sometimes money), i have seen friends who are true to me. of course there are friends who are just there trying to get some advantage out of me, but i wont allow these people to stay ard me for long cos i have learnt to protect myself better. to frens who have been sms-ing me to ask favours from me and disappear whenever i need help, i would like to kindly remind you that i will never reply your sms-es. thank you very much for the kind attention. :)

i have managed to keep good frens close which is good thing because they are pp who i would love to keep for life i ever have the chance. they are the ones who i open my heart to and they listen whenever i speak. vice versa.

work.

life in starhub has been really wonderful if not for the lousy superiors tt i have. i made lotsa friends there, my colleagues and i laughed over silly customers all the time and we fumed together whenever there were nasty customers. thru the good and bad times, we bonded strongly together. but like what jeremy always say, there is no more value added to us after we stay too long in starhub. life just becomes stagnant and u find there is no more room for us to grow. i have left starhub with lotsa customer service experience gained and i learnt abt office politics. i have grown tremendously. these are invaluable experience that not all undergrads will obtain during their pursuit of degree. and such experience will give me an edge over the others when i have to look for a job actively this coming may.

i am now working in the airport. most of the time, i grumble to my frens that i have a no-brainer job which is true in every extent. but it opens the door to lotsa networking (like how i get to know the director of nus alumni) and made lotsa good friends (but there are hypocritical frens as well, towards those, i have learnt how to handle them. sth learnt as well!). this job allows me to plan my schedule a/c to my sch and personal life and the best thing is i get paid more for working lesser as compared to starhub. i work 4 hrs per day w/o racking my brain which is a good thing when sch reopens this coming week.

sch.

sch has come to a standstill for me ever since i started my level 3000 modules aka year 3. i have been stuck in lab from 9am to 5pm for every monday. the lab is too hot for us with those lab coats and goggles on. but HEY! i survived those dumb experiments and i churned out lab reports that earned me grades As and Bs (not too bad huh for a lazy science undergrad like me).

i have passed my semester 1 2006/2007 with satisfactory grades which i can say that are proportional to the efforts that i have put in.

i have just checked my nus email and i have successfully been allocated the friday 9-12pm module and life will be so perfect when i bid for my thai 3. 4 sch days. 5 modules which are made up of 3 chem modules and 1 thai module and 1 business module. i will s/u thai 3 and the rest are all open book.

haha, 4 open book exams, envy me. :)

of course i do hope to score well for the last semester, but like i say god is fair. he rewards those who work hard. i hope god reward me accordingly.. i wont ask for the sky when i know i have other commitments outside.

family.

i think for this year, i have grew a little distant from my family because of my work and sch. i mean it has been like tt all these while, but bcos dad is working at night now and sister has just entered poly with odd sch schedule, therefore everyone barely get to see each other all the time. it hasnt been exactly the kinda family-bonding-year, but i know things will surely get better. cos when things get too bad, it gets better the next moment. my sisters open up more to me as in they talk more abt their private life to me now when they didnt dare to talk abt it at all in the past. it is really nice and warm to have sisters telling u abt their bfs/crushes/suitors.

personal growth.

2006 was the year i turned 21. being 21, i feel like im handed with more responsibilities. it just feels this way, dont ask me why though there isnt any so called new responsibilites given to me. i am the same old joanna who studies and works part time. i study and revise when i want to. i spend what i earn. i slp whenever i wan to. i am free to whatever i desire. however i have managed to discover more abt myself and grow up thru mistakes and hurt and pain.

there are certain issues which i have left aside because it is just not the time to discuss abt them now. for anyone that i have hurt, i truly apologise and please recognise that i never have the intention to harm/hurt anyone. sorry-s may not be the best word to heal wounds, i hope time can perform the task for me.

and towards myself, i must say i have completed alot.

i have done my braces, signed up for my bike class 2b licence (am attending lessons now), did my rebonding, travel a few times w my own hard-earned money etc etc. the list is endless.

the point is, i feel accomplished. :)

the things tt i have done may be insignificant to those things tt great leaders have done, but to me, i dont need the honour and glamour to feel significant. the fact tt i am soaking in happiness is mre than enuff to prove my worth in life.

for year 2007, i wont do up a list like what i have done in 2006 anymore. because i dont wish to be restricted.

i only wish to do whatever my heart desire and to obtain true joy and happiness in all that i do. i wan the same thing to happen to pp ard me.

but of course, there are certain things which i hope to complete by end 2007. one of which is to get my bike licence and to get a bike. another one is to travel to vietnam to appreciate the coffee culture there or to go to msia and visit my grandpa's first wife aka my 1st ahma (yes, my grandpa has 2 wives). besides tt, there is nothing else tt i wanna ask for. let the future lead me to wherever i go. life's full of anticipation.

year 2007 would be really significant to me because im awaiting for graduation and to start a total unsheltered life.

there is always so much more to learn in life, it is a phase that i wan and will have to go thru.

with these thots penned down, i wish everyone a happy 2007. may the year ahead get better for everyone. fill the days with sunshine.
